As a community we have unique access and support from WEF but we are ultimately self-organised and our success as a hub depends on our members’ drive and demonstrated commitment for positive social and environmental impact.There are over 300 hubs across 158 countries around the world and over 7,000 Shapers internationally. London is one of the most established hubs in the network and we benefit from having many Shapers who’ve moved here from abroad and travel through.The London hub is part of a global community with local, national and regional events, allowing young social impact leaders to meet, build friendships and work together on hub projects and topics that matter most to them.With the largest youth population in history, there is an unprecedented opportunity for young people to take an active role in shaping the future. Our generation has inherited enormous global challenges, but we have the ability to confront the status quo and offer youth-led solutions for change.There is no one one-size-fits-all “Shapers type”. The London hub is a group of almost 50 individuals (by our community charter, membership numbers are capped) who encompass a wide range of backgrounds, careers and interests. Our members include writers, entrepreneurs, investors, doctors, lawyers, academics, activists, policymakers and many others. What unites us is our ambition, leadership and a desire to use our skills and opportunities to make a difference to our communities in London and the wider world. The transition from university into the workplace is a difficult one. Increasingly, employers are flagging the lack of employability skills amongst recent graduates as a real issue. Students are also failing to find jobs that reflect their success at university and some are failing to find jobs at all.Claudine set up The Student Development Co. (The SDC), an employability organisation to support students from low income backgrounds through this transitional period. Primary Colours Academy, The SDC's first initiative, is a series of free careers workshops. The aim is to assist students leaving college or university in their preparation for their careers and to ensure a smooth transition into a workplace in which they can thrive.The SDC have also launched:1. The Skills & Insights Programme (aimed at 16 to 18 year olds) which provides an insight into various companies and industries through office tours and workshops; and 2. Ask A Professional - video interviews with young professionals who share their career experiences and top tipsIn September 2016, The SDC launched the revolutionary mobile app - Career Ear. Career Ear is a Q&A careers advice platform allowing young career seekers to ask questions directly to professionals across a range of industries. Claudine regularly advises on landlord and tenant matters as well as real property disputes and has experience dealing with both commercial and residential property.Claudine is also a member of the firm's Diversity Committee.

An initiative to promote role models from non-traditional backgrounds who have achieved their ambitions and are willing to support young people coming through.Ambassadors share their experience of entering the profession, including the challenges they faced and how they overcame them.Reflecting on their career path, each ambassador provides practical tips and advice on pursuing a career in law, providing inspiration and valuable insight for students considering a career in law.Through celebrating the success of our solicitor ambassadors, showcasing their achievements and sharing their stories, we hope to demonstrate that, regardless of social background, the profession welcomes talent, tenacity and a strong work ethic. Young Black Grads is a not-for-profit organisation which provides a platform for young people to network and share their ideas, experiences and opportunities. Claudine founded this organisation with two friends because they all felt that there was a need for a strong support network of young people who could support one another to overcome obstacles such as: a lack of opportunities, inaccessible industries, a lack of skills and know-how and general disempowerment of young people.Since setting up this organisation, Claudine has met a wealth of young, inspirational people and knows that YBG has had a positive effect on the lives of many by providing young people with this informal platform to reach out to their peers both to provide and receive support.Personally, Claudine has gained valuable experience and skills in networking, events management (both organising and hosting), team work, communication, delivering talks/presentations, marketing and generally developing and growing an organisation. YBG has received support from the likes of Teach First, Mishcon de Reya and O2, they have been directly contacted by a number of schools to deliver talks and by organisations such as the Civil Service to act as a consultant given our experience in working with and attracting the interest of young black and minority ethnic groups. YBG's network is consistently growing, each event is better than the last and the organisation will continue to thrive.

Claudine set up this online business in order to generate an income for herself during her year at law school.Proofreadmaster.co.uk offered customers the opportunity to have documents such as CVs and essays reviewed. This involved making suggested changes to improve spelling and grammar, tone, fluency, structure and presentation. The business proved a huge success for Claudine.
