Active participation in annual strategy meetings with the department to align the departmental strategy according to the Empa's research focus area of Health and Performance. • Leading and coordinating more than 10 projects within an international and interdisciplinary research network of collaborators, including Horizon 2020 EU-funded and SNF/Innosuisse national funded projects (1000k CHF, with 180k CHF from Novartis FreeInnovation).• Leading and coordinating intercultural teams of up to 8 researchers with expertise in physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering (e.g. two postdoctoral researchers, three doctoral students, and three master students).• Defined for each projects work packages, activities, Gantt chart, Pert chart, and deliverables ensuring that the triple constraints of time, scope, and cost were respected.• Ensured adherence to the project plan with rigorous risk analysis and determined mitigation strategies, including the establishment of go/no-go milestones.• Set up research infrastructures, including analytical equipment and personally designed processing equipment leading to groundbreaking microfluidic textiles wet spinning.• Supervised and coached senior and junior scientists, according to their current career stage and future goals (i.e., previous Ph.D. now head of R&D in ETHZ start-up, former postdoc promoted to Scientist).

Scientist within the group of Medical textiles and Hydrogels. Project Leader with a team of two postdoctoral researchers and one master student to develop optical sensors for wound monitoring and radiochromic films for novel radiotherapy concepts.• Collaborated with KSSG, the cantonal hospital of St. Gallen, to customize the research approach towards a clinically oriented solution that achieved an increment of the color sensitivity to radiation of 300% reaching the desired target.• Developed optical and colorimetric sensors with the necessary sensitivity to pH variation and glucose concentration to detect chronic wounds (https://www.empa.ch/web/s604/wound-healing-sensor) in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists from Centre Suisse d’Electronique et de Microtechnique (CSEM), ETHZ and University hospital of Zurich.

Project Leader within the ACQUANANO project where I aimed to evaluate the impact of metal nanoparticles on the marine ecosystem with a multidisciplinary network of researchers with expertise in material science, analytical science, eco-toxicology, and genetics.• Devised a strategy for correct project implementation as well as adhering to the set deadlines.• Set up an analytical method to detect the presence of nanoparticles within seawater media reaching for the first time part per billion concentrations.

Project Leader within the SENSOPACK project, teaming with an interdisciplinary network of food scientists, biologists and material chemists from the University of Cork and University of Belfast as well as Irish companies from the dairy sector to tackle the development of optical sensors as indicators of freshness in packaged food.• Developed a novel technology from the initial concept up to the final product formulation that was transferred to industry.• Upscaled the processing technology up to semi-industrial production leading to a 10 fold increase in sensor production rates
