I am an educational consultant with Sci-Lingual Education. We provide NGSS professional learning to districts and schools, focusing on developing teachers’ science content knowledge and expanding their instructional strategies to support Multilingual Learners with language and literacy development. We have developed and led numerous professional learning programs throughout California, Washington, Texas, and Central America. I serve on various local and state education boards and committees tasked with ensuring access and equity in science. I served as a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine committee, which issued the national Call to Action to advance equitable science education.Prior to this position, I was the Coordinator of K-12 Science Programs at the Oakland Unified School District, a bilingual K-5 teacher, and a science coach. Before joining OUSD, I served as the Bay Area Science Project Director at UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science and as a researcher at the School of Pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco.
