About Claus Grovdal

Game creator, entrepreneur and studio executive with 28+ years of international industry experience. Started and sold two gaming studios and created and released three MMOs.Started out as editor in chief for various print gaming magazines and internet gaming sites. Started game design to make online games, feeling it was the future.Creator, Creative Director and Executive Producer of MMO franchise Darkfall at Razorwax in Oslo, Norway and at Aventurine in Athens, Greece - Filled Chief Creative Officer role for 12 years as main creative engine of AV. The franchise has seen three incarnations so far, with Darkfall: Rise of Agon being the latest by Big Picture Games, Canada.At Jagex (Runescape), I was the creative lead on a new project development team conceptualizing and pitching online games, and became the lead designer on an unannounced MMO project when it was green-lit by the Jagex board in May 2015. This project was to be a spiritual successor to Runescape. My project was greenlit by the Jagex board.At CCP I was the first developer when the HQ moved to London. I was helping build the new studio, getting new hires interviewed and integrated, pitching innovative MMO prototypes to the executive team, designing gameplay, and launching projects off the ground.
