I’m on a mission to help people feel better, look better, and be their best by getting the healthy sleep they need. My story begins in Germany where I was born and lived until my mid-30’s. There, I apprenticed and eventually obtained the esteemed status of Master Cabinet Maker. I then earned a Master’s Degree in Furniture Design and Manufacturing in Switzerland. For years, I did custom woodwork, designed and manufactured furniture, imported from Asia and all over the world—it was back-breaking work. So I began searching for the best bed for my own back and discovered SAMINA in Austria. After sleeping on SAMINA, it became the only bed I offered to my clients. Natural by Design is the business I started in 1998 and is the exclusive North American importer of several lines: • most notably, the SAMINA healthy sleep system and line of natural sleep products (Austria); • the elegant line of Lambert furniture and home furnishings (Germany); • the Pummer® Inclined bed frame, a proprietary design of natural, metal-free, FSC-solid wood (Canada); • proprietary Pummer® brand of organic bedding designed for the SAMINA Sleep System (India).Over the years, a few things became clear. First, those customers who bought SAMINA sleep systems were the happiest; when you change a life for the better—people lose weight and have no more back pain, they remember you. Second, as we’ve all become smarter about our health, there’s a greater demand for healthy sleep with SAMINA. Gradually people are waking up and understand that modern life’s stress, chemical exposure, pollution, EMR and other unnatural aspects cause disease and age us. A return to nature and living a more natural and organic lifestyle are common values of mine that my clients share. In 2013 , I married Denise and we we began working together on a mission to introduce healthy sleep to the sleep-deprived.People are sick and tired of back pain, sleepless nights, and spending good money on bad mattresses.
