As Director of Development Clay directed all fundraising, donor relations, and promotional initiatives He handled the organizational policies, project development, team management and new funding programs. As part of the management of the fundraising process, he drafted and implemented the strategic development plan. He also developed policies and procedures for the development department which reflect ethical fundraising practices.Clay reduced reliance on a small number of repeat sponsors, as well as expanded the giving base and streamlined the proposal process. He renewed the largest sponsor at $1M per year with an additional 2-year commitment and earned the first new unrestricted $1M grant in five years for a key program initiative. He achieved 100% renewal of corporate sponsors in fiscal years of 2013 and 2014 and acquired new corporate funding amounting to $225K in the fiscal year 2013. He increased the second largest corporate donation by 200% in the fiscal year 2014

He played the lead role in increasing corporate sponsorship revenue by 120% and reducing fundraising expenses by 50%. He gained commendation for increasing revenue from individual donors by 300% and received a $1.5M sponsorship extension from the main corporate donor for three additional years. He attained $1M of US Department of Defense funding on signature program with 3-year commitment and acquired new sponsors at all levels, including the first $100K national sponsor in three years
