Resident Information Assurance Officer assigned to multiple programs supporting Defense Health Services Systems (DHSS) Medical Health Systems (MHS). Provide vulnerability analysis, guidance, recommendations, and deficiency resolution to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of supported information systems to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. Perform system security evaluations, auditing and assessments to determine operating system integrity, the installation and implementation of the specific access control products, application interfaces, life-cycle procedures and support to ensure compliance with the appropriate Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG). Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection requirements.

Senior IA Engineer responsible for maintaining a variety of complex applications using a number of enterprise wide security tools. Develop local policy and procedures to ensure that Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and DoD security concepts and policies are being followed to maintain both certification and accreditation for Defense Enterprise Computing Center (DECC) - San Antonio, Texas. . Install security software, configured access controls, and train personnel. Facilitate the gathering, analysis, and preservation of evidence used in the prosecution of computer crimes. Troubleshoot complex application problems involving all phases of systems analysis to provide INFOSEC solutions. Monitor, control and enforce configuration changes. Inform Program Management, System Administrators (SA) and TIER III support of any Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA), Bulletin (IAVB) or Technical Advisory (IAVT) identified in the Vulnerability Management System (VMS) database. Perform network scans and import results into the VMS database. Provide SA’s and TIER III with fix or corrective action then validate the vulnerability no longer exists then update the VMS database with the status. Perform all duties associated with the Information Security Officer (IAO) position and matters pertaining to network Security for DISA San Antonio. Customer security liaison and subject matter expert in INFOSEC matters pertaining to DECC – San Antonio.
