Directed multi-national, cross-functional teams of 40+ individuals in the pursuit, development and implementation of Delphi Steering’s China column and intermediate shaft programs. Developed and executed strategies to gain business with local OEMs and ensure a profitable revenue stream. Achieved project cost, quality and delivery targets through coordination of product design, in-house manufacturing, supply chain and logistics activities.Key Accomplishments:• Initiated and launched Delphi’s first steering column program in China• Fostered productive working relationships between teams located in Saginaw, China and Mexico.• Pursued and executed business with multiple global and regional OEMs (Toyota, GM, Ford, Chery, SAIC, HaiMa, HAITEC, Jiangling)• Grew regional revenues in excess of $100M• Supported establishment of two new manufacturing plants in Suzhou, China, to accommodate for growth. Led 10 engineers responsible for the implementation of lean manufacturing systems to globally support Delphi’s column business across 12 manufacturing and technical centers. Team included industrial engineers, manufacturing engineers, and cost estimators. Directed programs through all key milestones: manufacturing system design, FMEA creation, funding appropriation, equipment build, cell installation, ramp-up, and regular production. Provided on-site support at Delphi’s international plants to coordinate launch issues, standardize global procedures and trouble-shoot on-going operations. Key Accomplishments:• Directed the cost estimating group in business pursuits that set new annual revenue records for Delphi Steering with over $1B in annual revenue based on $30-$50M in capital investment.• Developed new cost estimating procedures to streamline the costing of international business. This allowed the organization to transition to a paperless system that more accurately accounts for the effects of regional sourcing, multiple currencies, as well as complex logistics costs.• Generated and implemented a new tracking system to monitor the 30-40 programs being simultaneously implemented improving the number of programs with key deliverables on time.• Resolved quality issues on an assembly line in Tychy, Poland, improving FTQ by 58%.

Managed the implementation of all off-shore column programs through the coordination of efforts at headquarters and Delphi Steering’s international sites.Key Accomplishments:• Coordinated the rationalization of Delphi’s European column footprint, combining column operations from four manufacturing plants down to two. • Initiated column production at our Poland plant with the transfer of five products and the implementation of new Electric Power Steering and Power Tilt & Telescope columns. • Developed, standardized, and rolled-out a new methodology for managing the on-time run-offs and delivery of multiple manufacturing cells.• Spearheaded effort to address throughput issues at one of our Southampton, England, cells, increasing output 78%.

Awarded and completed Fellowship at Stanford University (See Education).- Succeeded in competitive selection for one of two Delphi Engineering Fellowships awarded globally. - Received sponsorship based on outstanding work record, management recommendations, and exceptional academic capabilities.

Supported steering column assembly at the world’s largest column assembly plant, with production of 25,000 columns per day.Key Accomplishments:• Managed the ramp-down of integral steering columns from three dedicated assembly lines down to one flexible cell, while maintaining profit margins on each product.• Supported efforts to have plant selected by Industry Week as one of the top ten lean manufacturing plants in North America for 1999.

Supervised 40+ employees in a union environment for GM - Delphi. This involved: achieving cost, quality, & delivery targets, maintaining QS9000 compliance, and complying with local and national labor agreements. Implemented initiatives that reduced departmental down-time by 66%.
