Manage the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity to the community of Cordova, Alaska, an electrically isolated (island grid) utility. CEC is a leader in class with a large renewable energy generation portfolio, Grid-Balancing BESS System, Industry Leading Automated Microgrid Operation, 100% underground lines, 100% community LED street lighting, and affordable rates for our location. Expertise in underground and submarine distribution cables, hydropower, and islanded microgrid architecture and operations.

Registered Professional Electrical Engineer (PE), State of Alaska, 1998 - Present (7/13). Performed the Engineering design of CEC, and managed the line crew and contract crews for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the transmission and distribution system. Dramatically improved system reliability, converted the system from overhead to underground power lines, and managed the integration of renewable energy generation into the local grid. Grew hydropower and diesel power plant design, construction, and operation skills.

Served on the Federal Advisory Committee of USDOE in Office of Electricity which houses energy transmission, distribution, smart grid, energy storage portfolio. Served 3 terms then termed out, Energy Storage (Vice Chairman), Grid Resilience and National Security, and Smart Grid Subcommittees.

Appointed by Governor Mike Dunleavy to work with a team of appointed energy industry thought leaders to map out a strategic energy plan for the State of Alaska.

Termed out after two each three-year terms: 2016-2019 and 2019-2022

Developed underground power line design and project management expertise. Included design and engineering management of a large underground distribution system for the US Coast Guard with on time and under budget performance. Developed best practices to reach cost parity for installation of underground lines vs. overhead.
