MeteorologistPowderchasers Jun 2022 - PresentAnalyze and interpret complex model data from a variety of global & mesoscale deterministic & ensemble forecast models. Develop forecast algorithms and write forecasts for ski resorts in North and South America several times per week. Negotiated and managing partnership with Powder Magazine since January 2024. -
ResearcherUniversity Of Washington May 2022 - PresentAnalyzing climate change’s impact on seasonal snowfall and snowpack during different synoptic regimes in the Pacific Northwest. Investigating the effect of evaporative cooling processes from the Eastern Pacific on mid-latitude cyclone temperatures and precipitation type on a climatological timescale. Utilizing station observations, radiosonde observations, ERA5 reanalysis data, and CMIP5 LENSv1 GCM data to test hypothesis. Primary author on paper written with University of Washington research assistant professor Dr. Edward Blanchard-Wrigglesworth to be published in a peer-reviewed journal in fall, 2024. -

ResearcherUniversity Of Colorado Boulder May 2022 - Oct 2022Boulder, Colorado, United StatesInvestigating the microphysical processes of freezing rain to improve detection and quantitative precipitation forecasts. Writing code to perform quantitative quality control on data collected from doppler radar during the 2022 WINTRE-MIX field campaign in Quebec, Canada. Plotting and analyzing vertical profiles of reflectivity, velocity, correlation coefficient, and more to investigate microphysical processes. Preparing and analyzing surface station observations, radiosonde data, and model data to be compared against and used in conjunction with the doppler radar data. Working with Dr. Katja Friedrich and her team of graduate and PhD students. Findings presented at the Mountain Meteorology Conference in July 2022. Co-author on future paper (publication date TBD).Also determining the efficacy of cloud seeding during the 2017 SNOWIE field campaign in the Payette Basin in southwestern Idaho with Dr. Friedrich and her team. Performing quality control on raw data, creating plots for vertical profile analysis and verify cloud seeding efficacy using radar data and surface observations. Co-author on future paper (publication date TBD).
