From growing up on a small hobby farm in southeast Minnesota, I learned at an early age the value of hard work. In high school I participated in extracurricular activities such as Football, Baseball, FFA, Choir and student council. Growing up when I wasn’t in school or sports, I kept busy helping work with my dad for his plumbing/heating and cooling business. This further engrained my desire to stick to the trades in whatever my future career would be. Taking shop classes in high school such as wood shop, small engines and welding is where I would find what exactly I wanted to do for a career. In my Junior and Senior years of high school it was welding that I seemed to gravitate to. With great mentorship from my parents and teachers I was able to find the perfect school to continue my education at, Mitchell Technical Institute in Mitchell South Dakota. This is where I would further hon my skills and find out if I had what it took to work in the welding and manufacturing field. I graduated from MTI in the spring of 2016 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Welding and Manufacturing Technology. I was also able to graduate as one of the top students in my field of study earning High Honors for my cumulative GPA. It was a week after graduation that I would start on my career path. Throughout my technical schooling I had already been working for Hendrickson as a part time welder on the weekends. So, with that head start I dove headfirst into my work and tried to learn as much as I could about the business and how to become a better employee. It wasn’t long and I was given more and more responsibilities. Since starting at Hendrickson, I’ve held many job titles; Welder, Robot Welder, Laser Cutting Operator, Night Shift Facilitator and Quality Assurance Tech to name a few. I’ve also been trained to complete weld training and testing for new hire candidates as well as taking over the welding recertification process that we complete for our current welding associates. Along with weld training and testing I have taken Powered Industrial Truck Operator Training through Samento Industrial Training Systems. This training gave me the tools to assist in the training and recertification of our forklift operators at Hendrickson.
