Support projects to develop and validate multiplex immunoassays on the Magarray system

Under the supervision of Drs. J. Mark Carter and Laurie M. Clotilde, I helped develop Luminex immunoassays capable of detecting Shiga toxins, the top 9 non-O157 E. coli, the infamous E. coli O157, and Botilinum toxin type A, B, and E in various food matrices. I am ACUC trained, informed and certified to help handle, bleed and remove the spleen from mice for antibody production. My responsibilities also include common laboratory tasks such as solution (buffers, media and agar) preparation, cleaning, accurate record keeping, as well as ordering and maintaining equipment. I presented posters at local science meetings such as ACS and ASM. I also assisted in training of one graduate, three undergraduate, and one high school student.

I performed purification operations under the supervision of Julene Thudium to support the production of Kogenate. I operated a wide range of scientific instruments (e.g., pH meter, electronic balance, pipette, etc.) and chromatography techniques, following compliance and regulatory guidelines.
