About Clay Beauregard

I was the Program Executive for the viral-vectored vaccine program at Vir Biotechnology for 2.5 years, leading development of VIR-1388 for HIV prevention in partnership with the Gates Foundation, NIAID/DAIDS, and the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. I was also responsible for preclinical programs in TB, HPV neoplasia and HIV therapeutics.Prior to joining Vir, I was a Project Team Leader at Calico, leading all oncology and IO programs in the Calico-AbbVie collaboration, including the ongoing clinical studies of two oral small molecule PTPN2 inhibitors, ABBV-CLS-579 and ABBV-CLS-484, discovered in partnership with the Broad Institute. I also led several discovery programs in the targeted degrader space partnered with C4 Therapeutics.At the Baylor Institute for Immunology Research, I led the Center for Therapeutic Development, responsible for bringing the institute's novel discoveries into clinical development through partnerships and strategic collaborations. As a major highlight, I was a co-founder of the spinoff company, Denceptor Therapeutics, a joint venture between Baylor and the UK-based CRO, Abzena.My early career was focused on understanding transplant immunology and mechanisms of corneal allograft rejection through postdoctoral fellowships at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Harvard and at UT-Southwestern, followed by tenure as a Principal Scientist at Alcon Labs where I led a biology lab in ophthalmic allergy and inflammation and served as research representative or numerous development core teams.
