As a board member, I serve as an advisor to MNP, Inc. primarily on ecological, land management, and restoration activities/issues. As the co-author of MNP's most recent supplement to the property's 2011 Master Plan, I work with MNP staff, Ecological Planning Committe members and volunteers to help guide the trajectory of restoration and ecological monitoring activities. I also promote MNP by occassionally speaking at MNP functions and assisting with environmental education events at the preserve. My work at MNP has been very rewarding and I hold a great deal of respect for those individulas and groups who have had a hand in restoring and preserving this rich and diverse landscape.

I serve as an officer and on several committees of the Council.

As a board member of the Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of Pheasants Forever I help facilitate fundraising activities, advise the chapter on ecological restoration and wildlife habitat enhancement projects, and provide the chapter funding opportunities on a number of restoration projects in southern Wisconsin.

Contracted with private land owners for wildlife habitat enhancement services including management plan writing, prescribed burning, native grass installation and maintenance, and invasive species control.Planned site prep, installation, and maintenance for more than 5000 acres of native plantings.Managed multiple complex projects, including supervision and staffing.Budgeting and project logistics while meeting project deadlines.Partnered with state and federal agencies and other Conservation NPO's for project planning.

During my time at ERC, the ecological staff employed by Eco-Resource Consulting provided diverse expertise in aquatic and terrestrial biology and ecology. This expertise included the areas of aquatic biology and ecology, fisheries biology and management, wetland determination and delineation, prairie and woodland surveys, native installation and management, surface water quality investigation and evaluation, grant application and permitting, and lake and pond management. ERC routinely assisted clients with permitting for land and water conservation. ERC also assisted agencies in cooperative studies dealing with natural resource investigations and erosional studies. My duties with ERC included project planning, permitting, and specification drafting, project management and oversight, and conducting ecological assessments (including wetland determinations/delineations, resource surveys, and vegetation sampling/inventorying/monitoring). ERC had considerable experience in conducting ecological assessments for evaluation of natural ecosystems, as well as for planning and data collection.

Developed and oversaw over 100 land restoration/management projects on private, municipal, corporate and non-profit owned lands.Consulted for a wide array of clients to develop comprehensive restoration/management plans.Conducted quantitative and qualitative site assessments, vegetation monitoring/sampling, and project feasibility studies.

Set up and managed deer registration and Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) sample collection station. Collected tissue samples while organizing and maintaining all associated kill data. Served as a liaison to landowners and the hunting public on controversial issues surrounding CWD. Directed the activities of multiple personnel while adhering to personal safety protocols.

Oversaw native grass/forb seed stock and implemented a computerized inventory system.Carried out ignition and suppression duties on over 50 prescribed burns on native grass stands and other upland habitat areas.Planted over 600 acres of native Tall Grass Prairie on public and private land.Removed exotic and invasive vegetation through herbicide application and manual brush control.Collaborated with Pheasants Forever Habitat Specialists and local chapter members for active wildlife management of upland and wetland habitat.Operated and maintained Truax seed drills, rotorvators, brush-hog mowers, chainsaws, heavy trucks and trailers, ATV's and tractors.

Lived and worked for two years in an undeveloped rural village in southern Ghana, serving primarily as a technical and operational advisor for two different community managed tree nurseries. Secondary activities focused on environmentally based community development projects and providing agricultural extension services to rural farmers.Structured natural resource management plans for three rural communities.Facilitated the development of a rural community center with a clinic and library.Organized two farming co-op groups and guided them to higher agricultural yields through the use of soil and water conservation programs.Received training in community development, grant and proposal writing, rural appraisal, cross-cultural awareness, African languages, and a broad range of natural resource issues. Instructed seventeen Peace Corps Environment Sector Trainees in various techniques including: community entry and mobilization, small business planning, tree nursery establishment and maintenance, seedling outplanting, water and soil conservation, and sustainable organic agriculture. Trained 120 Peace Corps Trainees, Host Country Nationals and Peace Corps Administrators in remote preventative health care, First Aid and CPR.
