Operate, troubleshoot and maintain advanced analytical equipment and perform microbiological analyses in support of water and wastewater operations. (GCMS, IC, TOC, UV-VIS, FIA, clearwater, Bac-T testing) Reports to operational staff and makes empirically based recommendations.Research and implement new and existing methods. • Analyze water chemistry in different stages of the wastewater treatment process utilizing instrumental analyses and manual chemistry.
• Distill samples for ammonia, phenolate and cyanide.
• Collect ammonia, nitrate and nitrite data using a Lachat flow injection system.
• Measure cyanide and phenolate using manual chemistry and uv-vis spectrophotometer.
• Support lab staff in the daily lab functions and act as backup for other microbiological and chemical tests.
• Read and develop methods, improve or write SOPs.

• Sample ponds and reservoirs from a boat taking depth measurements with a field meter.
• Perform manual chemistry, routine microbiological analyses, and basic instrumental analyses.
• Prepare various chemical reagents, analytical standards, and microbiological media.
• Perform basic laboratory computations needed to calculate volumes and concentrations
• Conduct basic chemical and/or microbiological analyses with precision and accuracy, using standard written procedures and evaluates results for reasonableness and conformance with acceptance criteria.
• Clean glassware, sample bottles, and equipment in accordance with EPA protocols for intended use.
