Professional Engineer, Mechanical (Machine Design and Materials)I graduated Cum Laude from Western Washington University in June 2014 with a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering Technology and a minor in Mathematics. I then worked at Space Exploration Technologies on composite and metallic structures for spaceflight. I started as a manufacturing engineer and transitioned to mechanical design and analysis by learning on-the-job over the course of three years. Some recognizable systems I helped build include the Falcon 9 Interstage and Falcon Heavy Booster Nose Cone. My designs flew successfully on the Falcon 9 Interstage and the Dragon 2 Solar Arrays, Crew Seats, and Backshell Thermal Protection.After leaving SpaceX, I consulted on mechanical design for satellite systems, then moved to Bavaria, Germany, to work as a mechanical design engineer on Lilium's passenger eVTOL aircraft. I was promoted to Lead Structural Engineer (design lead for the Tail Zone and Scrum Master for two teams) after 6 months, and continued in this position for another year. I left Germany at the beginning of the Ukraine War to be closer to family.I then returned to Los Angeles and started my own consulting company, Astris LLC, with aerospace startup clients found through my colleague network. I completed my second bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics while operating my small business, and I'm continuing to investigate new challenges and opportunities.
