I am currently a second year Doctor of Physical Therapy student at Indiana Wesleyan University. During my first trimester, I was able to get a health-to-home experience at Colonial Oaks in Marion, where I worked with 50 to 95-year-old patients who had recently suffered a life altering event. During my first trimester I completed a population health program in a summer program for at-risk children where I worked with a team implementing exercise programs for children ranging from preschool to 6th grade. During my second trimester, I was able to gain great outpatient physical therapy experience at Steppin’ Up PT in Fort Wayne. Throughout this experience in Fort Wayne, I worked with a wide variety of ethnicities, age groups, and injuries. I have always felt that one of my strongest attributes was communication. Moreover, these learning opportunities allowed me to create relationships quickly. I found my ability to make conversation with patients allowed them to trust me as a health care provider and as a human being. My post-graduate goal is to find a clinic where I can have influence in people’s lives. I am extremely excited to continue my learning experience and become the best physical therapist that I can be.
