Clayton Such is a builder and he excels at scaling technology and businesses in the power and control systems industry. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer at IEM, which has provided infrastructure to Silicon Valley for 70 years. Spurred by Clayton’s effective leadership, IEM is doubling its manufacturing footprint and growing at 50% YOY. Clayton joined IEM in 2011. He quickly moved up, holding 6 roles across engineering, sales & marketing, finance, operations as the company grew 1500 employees. He led an engineering team to create a critical new product, utilized a consultive approach to pioneer bespoke products, and directed a turnaround during the only unprofitable quarter. Now as CEO, Clayton is establishing IEM as the premier power systems and quality provider in the industry by deepening relationships with Hyperscalers (Amazon, Google, and Microsoft), expanding relationships with CoLOS, and building out a service arm. With the recent private equity acquisition by Odyssey, IEM is on track to be a $1B+ business in 2024. During his career, Clayton has had the unique experience of only reporting to CEOs. In college, he ran business intelligence for his stepfather’s furniture business. He gained deep insights into how to run a business, particularly with asset-based lending, which IEM uses as well. At Younicos, Clayton led the engineering team in a proof of concept at a wind farm in Maui and in 5 subsequent large-scale installs. He also did the technical pitches to VCs, enabling the company to close Series B and C rounds, and then ultimately be acquired by Aggreko.Clayton graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering.
