I am an experienced software product designer, systems architect, software developer and manager with a history of delivering a wide variety of software solutions on different systems platforms. I have written multi-CPU and LAN operating systems on the first 8086 and TI 9900 microprocessors, and developed ground-breaking applications for project management, corporate financial planning, platforms supporting multi-dimensional data analysis and vertical market optimization applications, and a real-time web-based financial new intelligence gathering system.

Vp, EngineeringGreen Ridge Systems Oct 2002 - Jul 2004I designed and developed a real-time business intelligence delivery system that combined a browser-based front end using HTTP and javascript to retrieve news article snippets from the server. The Java-based server accepted real-time newsfeeds from services like Bloomberg News, ran them through a contextual-analysis system to categorize them according to company and topic and stored the results in a database. As and when the user adjusted company and topic preferences and relevance thresholds, the browser application requested updated article snippets. Clicking on a snippet retrieved the full article text for viewing.

Vp, EngineeringWhitelight Systems 1994 - 2001I led a team of four in the redesign of a rule-based architecture that aggregated, analyzed and presented results from data sourced in very large conventional RDBMS’s. Composed of a back-end server and front-end grid-based analytic interface, solutions based on this system solved in minutes analyses that typically took work teams weeks or months to produce. Barclays Bank in London used the system to perform 14-dimensional, stochastic simulations of its sovereign debt portfolio under a variety of market conditions. US Patent #5,918,232 “Multidimensional Domain Modeling Method and System” was awarded to the fundamental design principle of the system.

From a Macintosh 4D database prototype, my team designed and developed a C++ implementation that ran on both Mac and Windows, with 90% common code between the two systems. Pillar was acquired by Hyperion Solutions (later acquired by Oracle) in 1994 where the Pillar product line became a $100MM/year line of business.
