Retirement has been enriched by: a committee role and then Chairperson of three biennial Great Southern Classic Car Shows, establishing and leading the Great Southern Classic Car Club Inc; member and sometimes Secretary of the Denmark Machinery Restoration Group, ; jointly established local Bush Fire Ready group, now also jointly and ably run by Sal and neighbour Vicki; joined Scotsdale Shadforth Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, and slowly emerging from complete novice firefighter as training and fire ground experience accumulate; latterly Denmark Community Rowing Association committee member, and rower & coxswain; and occasionally maintenance of local sections of the Munda Biddi Trail. And, when on Perth sojourns in Mt Claremont, new grandfather, old father, and very grateful sometime 3-man in the "Tom Dadour" when a seat is available and the Swan is calm. And then, of course, finding time in my Denmark shed for resurrecting repairable write-off Ford Territories (finding salvage auction bidding addictive), when I SHOULD be restoring EH sedans and utes. Last, but most importantly, being a husband, and rural property joint maintainer. What prepared me for much of these voluntary activities was many engineering-related management roles in small private, listed national and global international organizations, in many industries. Mostly focused on getting people to get things done, in rapidly changing circumstances, compliant with internal and external management systems, themselves constantly evolving. Recruited, mentored, tutored, managed and supported personnel of many levels and skills. Squired new management systems and procedures into use and acceptance, for efficiency improvements.
