About Clémence Belle
PhD candidate studying cancer heterogeneity and evolution with expertise in bioinformatics and translational research. I gained my first experience as a patient a few years back and am incredibly grateful to all the healthcare workers for their efforts to help patients. Understanding cancer better is key to improving patients’ lives. So, what’s better than research to contribute to it myself too?My lab skills and bioinformatics training allow me to have a big-picture approach to projects: from the initial design and lab experiments to the final analysis. I specialize in spatial transcriptomics, sequencing, flow cytometry, histology or cell culture using patient samples. And to balance the time running around the lab, I’m also skilled in coding with Python, R and Bash to process raw data into insightful results and visualizations.In addition to my scientific expertise, I’m also passionate about design and illustration and enjoy incorporating my creative skillset into my presentations. I’m also really inspired by exciting stories of start-ups and entrepreneurship that think outside the box and combine science and creativity, as they fuel my curiosity and motivation to explore new ideas. As a woman and non-native English speaker, I’m aware of some of the challenges that still exist in the sciences. But I’m grateful for the amazing people who believe in me and the opportunities I’ve received. I believe in the importance of lifting each other up, so I’m happy to help by sharing my experience and knowledge whenever I can.
