Management of the Brisbane Business Unit and its engineering resources with hands-on application of modern engineering practice in power systems development. Engineering outputs of the business unit includes secondary protection and control; civil and mechanical aspects and primary electrical plant design and project management.

Perform specialist research & secondary design for non standard applications at utility and generation level. Also perform and consult on protection setting, dynamic & steady state power system studies, arc flash studies and power quality issues.

Manage consulting department staff and monitor their functions, output & quality with regard to the following:• Managing work schedules and workflow on a day to day basis• General consulting services such as Research, System studies, Project Development, etc• Project Management and Clerk of Works• Secondary Plant and Protection Design, Engineering, Configuration and Settings • Tenders, Proposals and Contract Management• Government Certified Engineer Services• Renewable Power Plant Control and OperatingEffectively integrate the Consulting Department services with those related functions of the Test DepartmentFinancial Management of department resources, quotations, invoicing and job planningBuild a comprehensive customer database and successfully attempt to secure services in this market.Develop systems and processes to improve efficiency, productivity and quality in the Consulting DepartmentPlay a leading role in the training and development of staff

Develop the engineering department with experts, equipment/software and customers to conduct any scope of work in the power system industry for Eskom, Municipality, Industrial and private developments. Key Functions:- Identify a comprehensive customer database and successfully attempt to secure services in this market. - Understand and formulate approach methodologies for the application process to Eskom, municipalities, factories and other utilities. - Consult on turn key projects and assist the general consulting department in various areas.- Know the technical requirements to ensure designs and network studies can be conducted- Manage and plan day to day workflow.- Grow expertize and ensure professionalism is maintained within the consulting department.- Grow and assist with the renewable energy projectsSpecialist fields of work:- Protection design and setting calculations- Renewable energy research- Grid Code Compliance studies and testing- Network studies and fault analysis- Contract and tender preparation and proposals- Report writing
