I lead the development and growth of Mitico. Mitico is an industrial carbon management company that offers fossil and non-fossil point source emitters to capture their CO2 emissions at a reasonable price. We believe that the best approach to capturing carbon is to use the cheapest technology wherever possible.

Providing scientific and technological development advice on electrochemical treatment of wastewater.

I support Prof. Hoffmann and his team of 4 Ph.D. students, 3 postdoctoral researchers, and 2 research staff in their execution of research via six avenues: strategic planning, personnel assistance, safety, research funding, research support, and training.I lead the technical development of early-stage technologies investigated in the Hoffmann research group at Caltech: electrochemical technologies for advanced water treatment and a point-of-sampling device for SARS-CoV-2 quantification in wastewater.I project-manage US, India, and China-based teams for the field-testing, user-testing, and commercialization efforts of the “Caltech Solar Toilet” (award-winning electrolysis technology for onsite wastewater treatment).I act as the point of contact between our laboratory, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation ($3.2 M cumulative grants in 2020-2021), and its partners.

I led the technical improvements and commercialization efforts of the Caltech Solar Toilet between Caltech and for-profit companies in US, India, China, and France. I managed a team of 5 researchers and 1 designer for prototype design, construction, field-testing, and user-testing of a self-diagnosis and smart maintenance system for wastewater treatment and recycling.I managed the research and grant-seeking efforts of a team of 3 graduate students, 2 post-docs, and 1 engineer for the development and testing of an integrated device for SARS-CoV-2 detection in wastewater samples.I participated in the elaboration of two international standards for onsite sanitation: ISO 30500 and ISO 31800.

I was a Teaching Assistant for the Introduction to Environmental Science and Engineering course taught by Prof. Leadbetter.

Currently teaching Introduction to Environmental Engineering II (CE 2840) for the past three semesters.I updated the content of CE 3840 to make the course available online while the university switched to remote teaching. I designed quizzes and reading guides and included videos to make the class accessible to students with low band-width internet. The course was self-paced with weekly modules focusing on specific learning outcomes and weekly meetings with students divided into groups of four presenting a problem orally while exchanging with me.2017 – 2021: Taught Introduction to Environmental Engineering I (CE 2840) during five semesters.I improved CE 2840 with the preparation of additional laboratory activities involving advanced oxidation processes, biogas recovery, and nutrients mass balance studies. I designed mini-lectures, online quizzes, and take-home activities. Due to COVID-19 related restrictions, I flipped the lab course into a fully online course designed as a first-person game for students to watch the experiments and gather data.

I successfully led a team of researchers and designers to write a winning $100,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase 1 grant. As a result I co-founded CLEW Systems, LLC and performed the Research and Development for the SBIR project. During this experience I gained valuable team building and management experience as well as relevant business insights.
