Hello, I am Clemmie, currently working as the Building Superintendent for the Los Angeles Convention Center. I look after the planning, scheduling, and organization of day-to-day activities at the Convention Center. It involves managing and directing 100+ people to ensure all aspects of the Convention Center's operations are on track.Beyond managing the day-to-day operations, I also handle the recruitment and onboarding of new personnel and evaluations of existing employees. My job challenges me daily to plan, lead and direct several components that highlight my experience with management and leadership skills.I have been in the hospitality and event management business for the past 30+ years. And these past decades, I have accumulated a wealth of diverse experiences.Currently, I have spent over a decade in various senior management positions. The 30+ years of experience give me in-depth knowledge and understanding of operations, procedures, and processes involved with security, electrical works, housekeeping, grounds keeping, and nearly all aspects of running a convention center.Furthermore, I am well-versed in contract negotiations and managing third-party vendors and subcontractors for hotels and convention center repair, maintenance, and improvement projects. At each place and position that I have worked, I always make an effort to grow personally and take the team on that journey of growth. This attitude is one of the reasons why I have been the go-to person for the training and orientation of new employees in all my roles. In addition, whether it is the employees, vendors, or clients, I am the preferred point of contact because of the experience and authority I bring to the table. At the point where I am in my professional career, I feel ready to take the next step on my journey in the hospitality industry. I love what I do, and I would like to continue doing so on a grander scale. Currently, I am looking to move up to regional-level management.Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife of 34 years and taking her along on long walks. They help me put things into perspective and give clarity for the future. Most mornings, I find myself reading the morning paper and books related to my field to better myself. I am a firm believer that knowledge is power. Weekends are for BBQs with my grandkids, which I try and teach to be the best versions of themselves through my own life. And if you're wondering, I am totally a team dog kind of person and have had a French Bulldog for the past six years.
