About Cleo Sham
Currently board member and advisor to founders of startups and scaleups in fintech, marketplaces, mobility, health and climate, as I explore ideas and opportunities for my next full-time focus. In the past few years I have been an angel investor and VC and prior to that, built and led teams as a scale-up operator across China and EMEA, starting with Uber. After starting my career at McKinsey Asia and a stint at the prop trading desk at BAML Hong Kong, I joined Uber as one of the first GMs in China in 2014, scaling the business to $1B GMV in two years and established Central Operations for Uber EMEA.Relocating to London in 2019, I took on the COO role at Spotahome after their $40M Series B, led by Bond Capital. After Spotahome, I joined Stride.VC in 2021 as a Partner investing in early-stage startups across Europe across Enterprise AI, health, future of work and fintech investments, and worked closely with/served on the board of 10 of our portfolio companies such as Runa, Jow, Techwolf, DeepOpinion, Loci, DoorFeed, Oliva, and Cleverea.I love building and working with startups, having been a 3x founder earlier in my career and an angel investor in ~30 companies. Since leaving Stride, I have continued to serve on boards (seed to post Series B), make angel investments, and advise founders on topics such as operations, fundraising, growth, and team.
