About Christine Leppard

Christine is the Manager, Exhibits and Experience, Sam Centre for the Calgary Stampede Foundation. Sam Centre immerses and involves the community in Calgary’s Stampede story. In this role, Christine leads a team responsible for developing and implementing a participatory visitor experience that includes engaging and accessible exhibits and programming. Previously, Christine spent 7 years as the Stampede Historical Specialist, spearheading the Stampede’s public history community engagement and stewarding the Stampede Collection & Archives. Christine earned a PhD in History from the University of Calgary in 2014 for her SSHRC funded research on Canada in the Second World War. She is now an Adjunct Professor in that department focussed on providing public history education and opportunities for students. She currently serves as the Chair of Heritage Calgary, which has a mission to make and keep space for the stories of this place.
