We have been designing and delivering architectural workshops since 2007; the aims of which are:To explore the role of the architect (including a visit to a distinguished architectural practice) To introduce and develop an architectural vocabulary and an understanding of architectural history To provide opportunities for pupils and teachers to express opinions about their immediate built environment and understand the importance of their role in the design process To enable pupils and teachers to develop their opinions and ideas through model-making, sketching and verbal communication.Projects to date have included Ashton baths, Thameside; Regeneration at New Islington Manchester and Designing outside shelters.Schools who have participated include- Stamford Park Infants and Junior Schools, Wellfield Primary, The Bollin, Elmridge, Loreto Preparatory, Limetree, Thorngrove, The CO-OP Academy, The Barlow RC High School, Trinity C of E High, Manchester.SCAPE has also delivered workshops to Trainee Teachers at Edge Hill University, Merseyside and Thameside City Council as well as to Gifted and Talented Pupils across the Northwest.
