At Saline County Housing Authority (SCHA) I had the position of Modernization Coordinator. My duties included the general administration of HUD Capital Fund Programs (CFP) which includes: developing budgets, preparing 5-year/annual plans, negotiating A/E contracts, reviewing A/E drawings & specifications, occasionally creating “in-house” bid documents, advertising/bidding projects, and daily site observation. I also frequently review: insurance certificates, lien waivers, bonds, schedule of values, pay requests, and change orders. This position required me to coordinate between SCHA staff, HUD, A/E’s, and contractors to ensure all projects were completed per regulated policies and project requirements.

November 2004 I accepted a position at Eggemeyer Associates Architects (EAA) so that I could relocate to Southern Illinois. At EAA I continued to complete my architectural internship as an Architectural Technician. My roles as an Architectural Technician at EAA were similar to what they were at BLDD. However, my time meeting with clients and reviewing shop drawings increased. At the beginning of 2006 I was promoted to Job Captain and the following duties were added to my responsibilities: preparing scope of work (SOW), researching products, writing specifications, and coordinating other team members. I was promoted again at the beginning of 2008 to the role of Project Manager. As Project Manager I was responsible to meet with clients to develop the scope of work. I developed construction estimates and scheduled production time for preparing construction documents, and coordinated construction documents with professional consultants. A large part of my responsibilities included answering questions and solving problems over the phone. On occasion I was required to perform some site observation; usually this occurred at pay progress meetings. During 2008 I also completed my architectural internship and began taking the Architectural Registration Exams (ARE).

Upon completion of my Bachelors of Science at Southern Illinois University I began my architectural internship at BLDD Architects as an Architectural Technician. As an Architectural Technician I work closely with project architects to provide design solutions and develop construction documents. Occasionally I was required to meet with clients and visit job sites. This position also included a minimal amount of shop drawing review.
