The programme has a flexible and modular architecture and has been endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive, Royal Geographical Society, Outdoor Education Advisory Panel, Institute of Outdoor Learning and Expedition Providers Association. The NWSMP is now the industry norm for water safety training.I am currently the lead consultant on the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Coastal Swimming, Walking and Waterside Activity Site Assessment Standard.

I worked as Head of Water Safety for the Royal Life Saving Society UK responsible for strategic development of open water programmes and lead on the commercial water safety consultancy division of the organisation. I was instrumental in the development of risk assessment programmes, including a model designed for beaches, run in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. During my time with RLSS UK I developed and wrote the National Water Safety Management Programme and was project lead on the latest edition of the National Beach Lifeguard Qualification and was on the development team of the Open Water Lifeguard qualification. In addition, I sat on a number of national and international panels including Vice Chair of the International Life Saving Federation (Europe) and global International Life Saving Federation and was Vice Chair of the National Beach Advisory Group in the UK.

Vale Of Glamorgan

Responsible for the strategic development water safety and coastal management of the Vale of Glamorgan. My duties included management of 26 miles of coastline, Penarth Pier and 35 staff and being the main water safety advisor to the county.In addition, my position was dual purposed having responsibility for managing events along the coastline. I originated the very first Tall Ships Festival which attracted over 20 000 visitors.
