• Founding Trustee of the charity Children with Cancer UK after losing youngest brother and sister to cancer within a few months of each other., The charity was inaugurated by Princess Diana. The charity began as a small memorial family charity. To help promote the charity I became honorary spokesman and recently CEO of Children with Cancer UK. Over 30 years I have contributed to £230 million fundraising efforts through over 700 speeches, television and radio awareness. Strategic partnerships with Mr Men and sponsorship of marathons, alignment with key celebrities and working with corporate players as Charity of the Year.CEO role involved motivating and directing a team of 40 staff. 2016 saw a growth of 23% to income of £17.5 million. Top one hundred fundraising charities average 2.3% in the same period. 2017 saw Children with Cancer UK enter the top one hundred fundraising charities. What started as a small family memorial charity is now the UK’s leading charity researching into childhood cancer. Created mission statement and developed new branding (Ring the Bell) for the charity in celebrating it’s 30th anniversary. Launched Precision Medicine at House of Lords in collaboration with CRUK. A project that will in the long term save the lives of many more children and offer them a kinder treatment to help them with a better quality of life. Carried out many Radio and TV interviews especially following the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.Developed strong relationships with leading child cancer charities such as CLIC Sargent, Bloodwise, Anthony Nolan, GOSH & CRUK . With whom we now have developed joint projects. These discussions have now led to a policy body of 23 charities called ‘The Children and Young People’s Cancer Coalition’. Developed strategic imperatives and mission statement. Developed range of ‘Young Translator’ videos designed to explain cancer research through the eyes of a child.
