I grew up with my family working in the Trades and began working in construction after high school. After deciding to make a career out of carpentry I applied and was excepted into the UBC apprenticeship. I brought my 5 years of concrete construction experience into the apprenticeship program and was able to expand upon it with opportunities to work in multiple different fields of carpentry, including finish carpentry, cabinet installation, and Tennant Improvement projects. These projects often were completed while working in operating facilities such as hospitals, schools, office buildings and high-tech facilities.Shortly after completing my apprenticeship, I accepted the opportunity to take a leadership role as a Field Representative for the UBC. My time here gave me many opportunities for training in communication, public speaking and leadership classes. This time also allowed me the chance to work with very diverse groups of individuals and associations.As a Carpenter I have enjoyed the multiple challenges in my path from apprentice to General Foreman.
