After leaving the U.S. Air Force in 1966 I was offered and accepted a position within the U.S. Department of State, Foreign Service Branch. This allowed me to work and live in La Paz, Bolivia; Moscow, USSR; Canberra, Australia; N'Djamena, Chad; Seoul, South Korea; and Frankfurt, West Germany. In addition, I also travelled on temporary assignments in support of the Secretary of State whenever he or she required. These travels have given me a true picture of the cultures and the world we live in. Upon my return to the U.S,. in 1983 I was a senior telecommunications instructor for the Office of Communications. In 1986 I moved to the Bureau of Diplomatic Security within the Department of State where I remained until my retirement in 2000 rising to the rank of Telecommunications Branch Chief for the Bureau. I went to to work for STG, Inc. under contract to Diplomatic Security as the Lead Project Manager for Design, Purchasing, Installation, Integration, Testing, and final Turnover of the telecommunications infrastructure of a new yet-to-be-built 12-story Headquarters building. Upon successful completion of that project, I resigned from STG, Inc. and made my way to the sunshine of North Carolina where I continue to reside.
