Advisory and consultative role in identifying sector trends and needs demographics within communities and making strategic recommendations for change. Strategic and operational lead for al service delivery within Aberdeen City for people with severe and enduring mental health problems, and associated challenging behaviour. Local quality assurance lead, monitoring operational performance against KPI’s in line with contractual and strategic objectives and delivered within assigned budgets. Act as Registered Manager for 3 multi-site service teams, encompassing Care Home, Care at Home and Housing Support models. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, taking corrective action where required. Build and sustain effective relationships with all stakeholders, particularly commissioners. Expand network of influence and promoting organisation as a partner of choice. Locality people management lead with full responsibility for recruitment and retention, training and continuous professional development of staff. Significant role in performance management and conduct processes both locally and nationally. Manage processes of major change and implement national strategy and corporate restructure at local level.

Senior lead in strategic development of all suicide prevention, intervention and postvention projects and activities within Aberdeen City on behalf of Aberdeen City Council and in accordance with the National Choose Life Strategy and Action Plan. Provide specialist training and confidential consultancy services for private and 3rd sector organisations. Lead local multi-stakeholder steering groups on a range of activities aimed at promoting Aberdeen City as a suicide-safer community. Worked closely with key partners across a range of organisations including Samaritans, Breathing Space, and NHS24 at both local and national levels. Advising member of Scottish Government National Working Group, on supporting survivors of suicide and those bereaved by suicide. Support NHS Health Scotland’s wider development and implementation of National Suicide Prevention action plans. Liaise effectively with all stakeholders and develop productive new partnerships. Promote and advise all stakeholders on latest national and international research and developments in field. Provide guidance and advice at senior level, including Mental Health Collaborative, MSP’s and Government Ministers (Westminster and Holyrood), on suicide and related mental health and wellbeing issues.

Manage team of over 350 unpaid volunteers to deliver an eclectic range of humanitarian services across North Scotland. Responsibility for ensuring all service volunteers were adequately recruited, trained and equipped for their roles. Act as incident command team for major incidents, as part of role as auxiliary to government. Support community emergency response and preparedness as a key member of Grampian Emergency Planning Unit. Coordinate and manage deployment of first aid services at major public events. Promote the work of the British Red Cross and engage with community awareness and fundraising activities. Local media spokesperson contact. Work at national level as specialist NGO advisor to HM Foreign and Commonwealth Office to develop new international emergency response service.
