Working on the Pharmacy Data Warehouse team of the Outpatient Pharmacy PIMS Replacement project replacing legacy pharmacy management software systems in outpatient pharmacies throughout Kaiser's enterprise.Over a period of several years worked closely with external vendor to develop, test and implement a solution to correctly identify and persist pharmacy financial activity in the pharmacy dispensing system. This solution moved responsibility for financial transaction data capture out of the data warehouse processes and into the source application. This produced a preferred architecture with improved controls over the responsibility for data quality for this essential function. This resulted in significant gains in the accuracy of financial activity transmitted to Kaiser's financial systems of record and of financial reporting arising from outpatient pharmacy operations.Developed the semantic layer for an interactive financial reporting facility using Business Objects for the use of pharmacy finance staffManage source system data quality defects with an 80% closure rate.

Migrate a mission critical SQL Server 2005 application to SQL Server 2008R2.

Primarily responsible for extract/transform/ load (ETL) applications architecture and development using DecisionStream, and runtime build automation.• Recognized with a Quality Award in 2005 for implementing a system that allowed multiple concurrent development and quality assurance tracks to coexist in the BI environment in support of multiple projects in addition to ongoing production support activities. This system was identified as the critical element that made it possible for the BI program to meet all of its goals for the year. • Created a Metrics Studio application using Metrics Designer, Transformer and Framework Manager to acquire, model, and merge data from cube, relational, and non-relational data sources to deliver account-level profitability scorecards.• Refactored an extremely complex set of Cognos-generated queries into a series of stored procedures that delivered a 200+ million row result set required by a portfolio analysis cube. This problem was surfaced several days prior to a product release, and this solution solved the problem and allowed the project to meet its release commitment. • Created design patterns for ETL developers reflecting best practices uncovered in previous projects. This practice facilitated and streamlined development, maintenance, and quality assurance activities.• Improved reliability, reduced build times, and enhanced efficiencies for recurring build processes by creating build automation scripts for the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly builds using Opalis Integration Server.
