Designed and developed the “Gold Standard Certified Practice” BUR Event Manager application based on best practice monitoring techniques for backup servers on multiple UNIX and Windows platforms.Improved return on a major investment made in storage management software when the vendor went bankrupt. Stabilized and improved the software on multiple platforms in Java, C, and ASP.Converted the development team's existing CVS and Team Foundation Server systems to Subversion. Trained the team.Analyzed, designed, constructed, tested, debugged, and maintained a complex enterprise training registration and tracking system managing the technical development of more than 60,000 users. At completion, the system consisted of 1500 Java classes and 300 dynamic web pages and received 30,000 hits per day. Led and served on full-lifecycle development teams producing commercial software products.Led a full-scale system conversion of a commercial CASE tool product to the Motif GUI.Led a team defining the infrastructure of Horizon, an add-on to a 4GL development tool product. Team responsibilities included internationalization, licensing, installation software, and utility class libraries.Conducted the object-oriented design effort for CrossView, a distributed systems management help desk product, resulting in a well-architected plan recognized by senior management for its completeness. Enhanced reusability and reduced maintenance costs by creating common C++/MFC classes shared by 13 subsystems.Evaluated and specified Windows development software for the entire Dallas development organization including compilers, utilities, desktop applications, and operating systems.

Coordinated a 10+ person team performing a full-scale system conversion of more than one million lines of C and C++ code to the XView GUI and to the Sun SPARC processor architecture. Built tools to automate portions of the conversion process and authored documentation.Championed advanced memory debugging and code coverage testing tools, resulting in a commercial quality product that led to a joint venture.Enhanced several releases of the Report Design tool and authored its end user documentation. Found ways to share largely duplicated code between similar tools, reducing build times and maintenance costs.
