Security ManagerDirectly Manages the Denver Zoo’s Security Program, comprised of 20 Full Time Staff. Negotiates contracts and conducts annual RFP’s on the Contract Security Program. The Zoo has used multiple contract security companies to supplement the in-house security program.Manages the UTC Contract Agreement between the Denver Zoo and the Denver Police Department. Manages off-duty police officers for traffic control and threat prevention.Instructs and certifies over 400 Denver Zoo Employees in American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED procedures. Audits and maintains these records to ensure that staff are up to date.Created an in-depth Security Metrics program to record the functions of the Security Team.Maintains the Denver Zoo’s AZA Accreditation through documented scenario trainings. These drills include Dangerous Animal Escape, Suspicious Package, Fire Response and Extinguisher Use, Building Evacuation, CPR and Medical Emergency Response, Severe Weather Sheltering, and Active Shooter Drills.Acts as Incident Commander during medical emergencies. Assists with getting emergency responders to medical emergencies throughout the Zoo.Leads the Denver Zoo Safety Committee and assists with staff training on hazardous waste procedures, spill containment, injury reporting, and other safety protocols.Co-Chair of the Denver Zoo Access Control Advisory Committee, which contributes to the Zoo’s culture of safety by identifying vulnerabilities and developing proactive solutions.Implemented a City Ordinance for Trespassing at the Zoo. Updated signage and Standard Operating Procedures to meet new legal guidelines.Accentuated the need for additional security systems throughout the Zoo, and prepared applications for grants through the Department of Homeland Security. Increased the Zoo’s culture of safety by creating belt-clipped Emergency Response Cards. These cards have been adopted at several other Zoo’s across the country.

 Appointed Site Supervisor Trainer by Securitas Management due to proven Supervisory Skills and a continued excellent relationship with the Janus Client. All prospective Securitas Site Supervisors are being sent to me for training. Directly supervised 12 Security Officers contracted to the Janus Capital Group Account. I evaluated all Security Personnel and made changes to increase the efficiency of the Security and Safety Team. Created an in-depth Security Metrics program to record and highlight the everyday functions and accomplishments of the Janus Security and Safety Team. Continually updated Post Orders and Procedures to keep them relevant and informative to all officers working at Janus. Assisted Securitas Scheduling Managers by learning the Securitas SAFES Scheduling Program. Kept Securitas overtime costs low by learning and utilizing effective scheduling practices. Controlled access to and continually audited access to all Janus Restricted Access Areas. Working closely with both Internal and External Auditors to continually audit access to the Janus Corporate Data Centers. Provided access control and contributed to the overall Client Experience for all Janus offices in Colorado, Boston, Hong Kong, London, Singapore, Taipei and Tokyo. Learned duties for the Janus Concierge Desk, and Janus Switchboard. Assisting with coverage during times that the Janus Concierge was unavailable.  Took control as Incident Commander during medical emergencies. Maintained an active certification in Adult and Child CPR, AED and First Aid. Fingerprinted Janus New Hires using both ink and electronic fingerprinting software. Managed the payroll and scheduling for all Security Officers contracted to the Janus Capital Group Account. Acted as a liaison between Janus Security Management, Securitas Security Management and the Security and Safety Team. Communicating all initiatives and expectations given to me by management to the Security and Safety Team.

I detained shoplifters at multiple Safeway Grocery Store locations in Colorado and Wyoming. This helped to save Safeway money due to theft.Worked together with, and helped keep positive relationships, with many different jurisdictions of law enforcement.Utilized verbal communication skills to de-escalate hostile situations.Demonstrated ability to remain calm under stressful situations.Saved both Safeway and Securitas money with excellent loss control numbers, at the same time having no non-productive / bad stops.
