Primary Purpose:Ensures that the communications network is operating at optimum levelsand efficiency through the monitoring and providing of real-timecoordination with various maintenance and repair personnel.Principle Duties:• Monitor the status of communications network, performing routine and emergency testing to locate system problems or degredation to minimize any loss of service on the communications network.• Coordinate and expedite the maintenance and repair on all communications facilities leased and company owned using a REMEDY ticket reporting sytem.• Assist in repair efforts when warranted, acting as a liaison between company, public vendor, and repair forces on multi-party involvement.
Communications & Signals Engineering Associate.
Primary Purpose:Supervises and coordinates an itinerary of periodic inspections of all train signals and highway-rail grade crossingwarning systems on an assigned territory to ensure they are properly installed, operated, tested and maintained.• Investigate complaints of unsafe or hazardous signal and train control systems such as, “False Proceed signals” or Highway-rail grade crossing warning system “Activation Failures”. Investigate independently or as part of a team,reportable collisions, derailments or other accidents that may involve on track equipment and a vehicle.Principal Duties: - Manages and provides direction, coordinates work, and expenditures of personnel on a territory, in order to provide a safe, reliable, economic, and efficient communication and signal system on a territory. - Ensures compliance with company and departmental safety rules through an organized safety program on the territory. Monitors the actions of subordinates in regard to safety, insuring safety of tools and equipment being used, and providing training and enforcement as necessary. Supports efforts of local safety committees, and promotesthe establishment and maintaining of a safe and efficient working environment for field personnel. - Supervises hourly and monthly paid Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen (BRS) personnel in the performance of their duties to ensure effective signal operation that complies with or exceeds Federal Department of Transportation regulations. - Provides accurate and concise field information and data used by Communications and Signal Engineering forces in the design of construction projects.

• Supervise and work with six technicians responsible for all Information Technology, Defense Switched Network (DSN), Secure network (SIPR), Non-secure network (NIPR), Voice over IP (VOIP), and Fiber Optic Engineering, Installation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Repair.• Implemented training program and instructed new hires on proper Fiber Optics splicing, troubleshooting, and terminating.• Worked in Secure locations such as Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Intelligence (C4I) environment requiring a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.• Interface with military and civilian officers on a daily bases, ensuring proper operation of Tactical and Commercial communications networks.

- Performed installation, extensive troubleshooting, and repairs of all POTS, CLEC and LEC lines and special circuits (ISDN, ATM, ADSL, 56k, T1’s, etc.) for assigned territories in the Hattiesburg, MS. Extensive knowledge of test equipment.- Responsible for special circuit cut-over and provisioning of ISDN, Series 2000, Series 5, Fujitsu and ISLC for assigned territory in the Central Atlanta, GA. District.- Performed the placement of cable punch-down panels and splicing operations to include PIC, pulp and Fiber Optics.
