I was in charge of communicating and discussing scientific information to various age groups. I hosted walks and taught kids about the natural world. I learned how to effectively communicate. I also learned how to manage the time I was allotted during each nature walk. I also held responsibilities for my manager and I also worked with other managers and made the work environment a fun and intriguing place.

I worked through IE3 as a International research participant. I was sponsored by the conservation non-profit organization in Ecuador called Equilibrio Azul. When I arrived in Puerto Lopez, I was assigned daily duties and tasks. The duties and tasks supported the strategic vision of Equilibtio Azul. I also spent time inputing research data and participated in fieldwork. My field work included shark measurements and monitoring Sea Turtle nests. Eqiluburio Azul also had a research station in the northern coastal city, Momphice. I commuted by bus to the Mompiche site a couple times throughout the internship. I worked with Diego in Mompiche and our job was to monitor Sea Turtles by doing night patrols.As time progressed through the internship I became in charge of training new interns.

In this internship I had to present and teach 4th grade classes about global climate change and why global climate change is significant. I also worked with partners and we taught lessons twice a week. I leaned how to be a good supporter of my peers. During presentations and preparation we went over what we were going to teach, I learned how to trust and rely on my partner's. The trust was significant because that was needed on order to complete our goal of communicating climate charge knowledge to a younger 4th grade audience.

As a Donald City intern I was in charge of developing a city plan that was in accordance with the city ordinances. I focused specifically on hazards that existed within the city that violated the ordinances. I spent a lot of time looking through ordinances and engaging in law. I learned how to interpret the text and apply to the information to the real-world scenarios. My duties also included active city council precipitation. I attended a city council meeting and I learned how to successfully engage my peers. we also deliberated and discussed the issues at hand.

I worked with the non-profit organization TreePeople. The organization relied on teamwork and efficiently for goal completion. During the time with TreePeople, I worked with many different people on many different teams. Each team had a different reasonability an each team had different personality types. I learned how to manage the different types of personalities effectively. Each team was not the same therefore, contingency and path-goal theory became very important. I leaned teams do not always respond to the same style of leadership/ motivation.

I learned new ways to be sustainable. I did critical analysis of current resources uses. It also allowed me to critically engage the society and other individual habits. This experience taught me how think about issues right in front of me. The experience also improved my personal skills. I leaned how to have a good discourse without being to aggressive or confrontational.

Santa Ana, Costa Rica

I was in Santa Ana, Costa Rica completing two courses of upper division Spanish. I was in an super- intense (5.5 Hours/4 Weeks) setting and I had to learn to adapt to extremely different settings. This experience taught me how to be familiar with change and not be afraid of a new experience. It also taught how to converse with other people from different regions. It also taught me how to be familiar with other cultures. I learned about traditions of people in Costa Rica and people from Costa Rica learned about my culture.The experience made me reflect on my interest in cultural geography. I also observed plenty of biodiversity in Santa Nana and I took weekend trips to coastal cites. I explored and learned about the costal cities, I noticed there was a relationship of cultural geography and tourism. Costa Rica was developing the coastal cities and chains started to occupy areas that had a food amount of cultural ethnicity. I realized that the coastal regions were staring too be areas of relocation and fun. The costal cities took on a new identify and the nearby ethnic culture had become in danger of being wiped out.Overall the experience taught me how to evaluate real world geographical process. The experience also taught me how to be an effective communicator.
