I’ve worked in program and events management for over 17 years. What I particularly love about my work is its variety and that I get to deal with so many types of people and issues: different personalities in many different positions including management leaders, community partners, volunteers, interns, staff.Yes, I am an extrovert and genuinely enjoy people. But my staff and co-workers say that I also have incredible patience, exude enthusiasm, and constantly work to find the best solution to challenges that inevitably arise. My responsibilities have included: designing and keeping to schedules for programs and events, marketing, budgets, setting priorities, recruiting, training and motivating staff, volunteers and interns. But, to be successful, it’s essential to be able to collaborate with partners, develop relationships, and increase public awareness and donor involvement so that events and programs are well attended and revenue is maximized. Again, it’s all about being able to deal successfully with people.My management style closely follows the Servant Leadership model - inclusive, respectful of individual contributions, and focused on listening so that we arrive at the best decisions to move us forward. It’s also important to me to create a work environment that encourages the highest ethical standards and quality of work that emphasizes collaboration and productivity.When I’m not working - which is seldom - you’ll find me spending time with my family, smoking meats, hunting and fishing.
