I make videos, strategize our communication structure, and try to help navigate the biggest communication shift in 500 years to see every life changed by Jesus. I oversee all aspects of our communication channels, social media, website, audio/visual systems, and serve on the core leadership team. I produce weekly videos, scripting, graphic design, social media posts, and publications. I oversee a team of audio and video volunteers to make sure our weekly gatherings, services, and productions are successful.

My responsibilities at Gayton Baptist Church include many facets of multimedia communications. I serve and support the congregation and ministries of the church through video production, week-to-week graphics for web, videos, newsletters, sermons, updates, ministry logos, events, and social communications. Most recently, I am working to redesign our website, eNews, bulletin, and launch an app with Subsplash in an effort to improve communication within our congregation and within the community. I've had the pleasure of serving on our capital campaign leadership team to produce various materials for the promotion of the campaign to our members and the community, including a series of videos of personal stories of our membership to connect our church as a whole to the mission of the capital campaign. Along with our small team, I planned, filmed, and edited the videos for final delivery on the web and during Sunday morning services. Each year, we host Jazz Nativity - a multi-show Christmas jazz music event that grows every year. I serve on the planning team and produce all promotional materials which include large road-side banners, video highlights for release on the web, postcards, e-newsletters, program/menu, projection screen graphics, in-show video clips, and many other pieces of promotional material. I assist our sound/light/media team in planning sound-reinforcement needs. For the evenings of the show, I mic instruments, and run the multi-track recording of the live event, as well as coordinate and run video cameras for video recording. After the event is over, I mix, edit, and produce final audio tracks and a full-length video of the show, syncing the recorded audio to the video for release on the web and future promotional materials.Other responsibilities include working directly with our worship arts pastor consulting on new technologies for our worship center.

I support the computer and media technology needs of the ministries at Grove Avenue Baptist Church (GABC), as well as Grove Christian School (GCS). My responsibilities include day-to-day desktop support for staff and students, network and server administration, telecommunications, evaluating technology needs, and audio/visual needs as it pertains to meeting rooms and classrooms. Additionally, I assist in the creation of graphics and video as needed, and will co-teach students in the Media Arts program at GCS beginning fall of 2016.It's an honor to serve Jesus and the people of Grove!

As part of my work at Grove Avenue Baptist Church, I served as the Media Arts Teacher at Grove Christian School (PreK-12), I had the pleasure of designing and building a media arts classroom and introducing new technologies into the program. My daily class consisted of middle school students and high school students. Their work was project based. We primarily focused on learning various media and video related technologies and developing their skills in story telling and video editing. We created promotional material for the school and partnered with other local organizations to create promotional material for their organization as well. I also worked with 1st grade through 5th grade as a resource teacher. I introduced the elementary aged students to video editing and basic coding. I served on the school leadership team and assisted in deciding on technology implementation for the whole school.

We partner with the most affluent communities in Richmond and help them launch a high-end newsletter that features their families, pets, and life. In the Richmond area, we partner with the residents of Wyndham, Windsor Farms, and Westham. I recently moved from the Area Director role, and now work as an Account Executive and Content Manager in the Glen Allen market as well as Publishing Assistant one of our publications in Charlottesville. As Account Executive, I find the best businesses to partner with local neighborhoods. As Publishing Assistant, I work with other Area Directors and help them manage their clients and content. I currently work with Area Directors in Richmond and Charlottesville. I also manage the content for The Loop - An Exclusive Private Publication for the Residents of Wyndham. As Content Manager, I connect with residents each month to acquire stories and photos from the residents about their lives. I also write some of the articles that appear in the magazine.(I will provide examples of magazine work upon exploring professional opportunities with specific companies as these are private residential magazines)

At Sam Ash, my responsibilities include connecting with customers and helping to identify what audio equipment and computer software fits their needs. This ranges from professional live sound reinforcement, DJ and lighting equipment, high-end keyboards, professional audio recording equipment and other musical instruments. The role requires extensive interaction with a variety of personalities in-store and on the phone, and providing outstanding customer service to all.

The goal of moreofYOUinthemonitor is to serve the church by equipping worship ministry and tech teams with the gear, knowledge, understanding, and servant-heartedness to serve their congregation well. As part of this venture, I became a dealer for Allen & Heath, Movek MyMix, and acquired gear through other partners. Through consultation, evaluation, installation, and training, I've been able to help quite a few churches in the area and region upgrade their equipment and their capabilities. As part of my work, I have spec'd out, configured, and implemented digital mixing systems, digital personal monitoring solutions, as well as evaluate a church's current installations and train their team members on how to better utilize what they already have. I've installed large Allen & Heath iLive systems at the International Mission Board (Richmond, VA), Mount Vernon Baptist Church (Glen Allen, VA), Faith Baptist Church (Youngsville, NC), reconfigured Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church's (Colonial Heights, VA) iLive system and trained the team, installed a complex Yamaha LS9 with dual stage-box setup and myMix system at Staples Mill Baptist Church (Glen Allen, VA), installed a full sound system at Hillcrest Baptist Church (Mechanicsville, VA) that included a Presonus StudioLive mixer and training for the sound team, installed a myMix system at Winfree Baptist Church (Midlothian, VA), where I was also invited to lead training for their sound team during a worship training workshop.During all of the aforementioned projects, multiple levels of interactions with different members of the church, sound team, worship team, committees, and pastors were required. This is where my heart resides in all of this work - getting to build the relationship and helping them lead their congregation in worship more seamlessly. After a few years, I am currently revamping the business to focus on training rather than installation.

As A/V & Desktop Technician, I work with both onsite staff and field personnel in a conference center environment. My responsibilities include A/V setup for breakout session, full audio/visual support for large conferences - including a variety of guest speakers, bands, video and slide presentations, computer hardware and software support, computer repair, video editing, and many other technology requirements. I, along with my co-workers, install and configure new A/V technologies as needed - this includes digital mixers, projectors, computers, and other equipment. Customer service is the biggest part of the job. I consistently receive great feedback for my service to our staff, guests, and the relationships I've built with them as a friend, but also as a professional. I give oral presentations and training regularly. Imparting useful knowledge to someone on how to effectively use new technology is a difficult task. With my strength in explaining complex concepts into "normal" understandable language, I regularly practice training individuals and teams who have little to no knowledge on how to use audio/visual and computer equipment. These individuals and teams include people who come from churches all over the country who have been volunteers, ministers, pastors, teachers, blue-collar workers, executives, children's ministers, youth ministers, and committee members who are going to all parts of the world. At the IMB, I've successfully served as tech-lead for a small team comprised of team members located locally and abroad on projects such as evaluating and implementing encryption security software on company-owned Macs.Working at the IMB has uniquely positioned me to interact with people from churches from all different parts of the country, as well as gain an in-depth understanding of the modern church, church planting, and the theological foundations that guide the direction of the church.

At Mount Vernon, I, along with a co-leader, led a team of volunteers for our sound and visual ministry we called "Amplify". During this time, I was responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining sound equipment, as well as continuous training for our sound team and new members, and scheduling of our tech team for sunday morning worship, weddings, and other special events. During my time at Mount Vernon, I was a part of the implementation and pioneering of our church's contemporary worship. We did some things right, and we did some things wrong. This experience gives me great insight into what a team goes through from both the musician perspective and the tech person perspective.

Concorde Forex Group trained individuals on methods of trading the foreign currency market. My responsibilities at Concorde Forex Group ranged from website development, to organizing and printing publications and manuals, to creating radio spots for the company. I took part in the planning and facilitating of our annual conferences for all of our trade members, which were held in local hotel ballrooms and convention centers. I also had the opportunity to be a part of our team who attended and had a booth at the forex trade show in Times Square. I took part in setting up our booth, setting up the technology used in the booth, as well as interacting with those in attendance of the trade show.Our owner had an interest in the music industry and expanding to other businesses. One unique experience was the opportunity to design and oversee the building of Sound Factory Recording Studio. During this project, I created a floor plan and helped direct the builders on materials to use, design techniques for a studio, and helped choose and acquire recording and audio equipment that would be used in the studio. We utilized a lot of gear we purchased from a studio in town that was closing down, and we ran and soldered many of our own audio cabling and ethernet cabling. I also created the logo and other graphic materials for the studio.

I started at Mars Music when the store was being built in Richmond, VA. I had the pleasure of helping setup the store, and being there since the beginning. I was in sales in the pro-audio and recording department, where I worked with customers and musicians of many different backgrounds who sought the best products for their audio needs. My responsibilities included learning many different recording and live sound products, keyboards, DJ and lighting, and being able to train others on those products and being able to sell them. I worked hard in sales and enjoyed it; my passion was the customer relationships built through the sales job. While many of my colleagues would not go to a customer's church or house to help them get straight on their new equipment, I would often go on location to the customer's church or house to make sure their equipment was configured correctly, and make sure they knew how to use it. Often times driving many miles for this "not-in-the-job-description" support, or to help install a new sound system.Other opportunities at Mars Music included going to Colorado for two weeks to help setup a new store, and help train new employees in sales and on the PoS system.
