Responsible for the overall management of the Project Management Office including, but not limited to, the following:> Creating and managing the Departmental Project Portfolio reporting structure> Leading and managing the project management area in delivering expertise required by program areas which are state of the art, supportable and have high quality> Leading the adoption and use of innovative project management strategies which will provide efficiency to the department and program areas> Leading and managing the creation of project management direction based upon business drivers and departmental needs> Managing project management infrastructure, standards and direction which anticipate Departmental growth and needs> Managing the DHS PMO staff and collaborating with the Divisions to manage the inventory of DHS projects at the appropriate levels> Establishing and monitoring employee development/training programs and performance expectations> Developing and implementing process to review project work plans, status, quality and timeliness and enforce expectations> Creating and managing outreach strategies which promote coordinated Departmental project management, along with the adoption of project management into all projects across the Department> Creating templates, tools and techniques to create consistent project management methodology throughout the Department and the Bureau> Effectively linking programs, strategies, business processes, and tactic> Implementing process and procedures to measure performance and quality of services> Promoting diverse problem-solving techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma and TQM to address customer business needs> With the Office of Organizational and Employee Development, developing and administering departmental Project Management training and expertise, utilizing accepted and proven educational practices> Measuring progress to ensure sound management practices for delivering departmental project management
