Clinton Lafferty holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee and a Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. Clinton joined TVA in March 2009 as an outage engineer, after working at John Deere and Volvo Trucks in computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer. The TVA combustion turbine fleet had grown considerably from his time as engineering intern in 1998 with only four sites and 48 units. During the past 12 years, Clinton served as an outage engineer, outage program manager, and outage manager to TVA’s simple-cycle and combined-cycle plants performing major inspections on gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators. In 2011, the Combined Cycle Journal recognized his work on TVA Brownsville Units 1 and 2 winter operational improvement as a Best of the Best Practices in Business Operations and Maintenance. In August 2018, he moved to a corporate engineering role as TVA’s senior program manager for gas turbines formalizing the company’s long term gas turbine inspection and maintenance program for 108 gas turbines and growing frame and aero-derivate fleets as well as serving as TVA’s advisor to P216 and P217. He is also a licensed professional engineer, holds three patents, authored four papers, and has presented at several conferences.
