I am responsible for the supervising and training… Show more In 2006 I took over the role of Clinical Coordinator for Eastern Idaho RMC’s pharmacy. My responsibilities included Formulary management and oversight of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee. Using the P&T committee to institute medications of choice for specific disease states and eliminating obsolete medications we have removed over 200 unused and unwanted medications. The result has been a decrease of almost $200,000 in drug inventory. I am responsible for the supervising and training of 20 clinical staff pharmacists. I have used a combination of case based learnings and hands on examples to improve their clinical skills. In my tenure here the facility has added a NICU and PICU department. Both have necessitated specialty pharmacy training, standardized dosing orders, and development of protocols to provide the safest for these exceptionally fragile patients. The pharmacy department over the last 7 years has become a leader in the division for initiating new programs. Advanced real-time monitoring software, multiple medication initiatives ranging from anticoagulants to breathing treatments have been piloted successfully here and then adopted throughout the division. I have oversight on a successful and profitable Outpatient Infusion center that has been a stable “product line” for the last 7 years. Focusing on proper cost setting, billing of medications and obtaining pre-approval of patients have been my goals. Cost containment is always a priority in pharmacy. Besides reducing stock, I have helped implement dozens of usage changes that have led to millions of dollars in lower spend, while at the same time delivering the same high quality care as previous therapy.
