• Managed all legal and business functions for two major North American video game development studios (Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal) for international video game publisher Square Enix Europe.• Negotiated and developed all studio third-party technology partnerships and affiliated agreements, including site licenses, contactor and third-party sublicenses, code escrow, software support and upgrades, co-marketing, etc.; managed these relationships/deals across internal departments both domestically and internationally. • Oversaw business development activities in the North American publishing territory, developing and managing partnerships with game developers for IP acquisition, publishing, and distribution, as well as technology companies for middleware and tools partnerships with the studios.• Served as privacy officer, advising public relations and marketing teams globally (primarily US, UK, Canada, Japan, Denmark) as to current accepted privacy practices with respect to planned advertising and data collection strategies, regulatory compliance and social media best practices.• Designed all internal legal and business processes and managing interactions between business and legal functions and all game production, technology, IT, marketing, PR and sales functions within the game studios as well as interactions and efficiencies with the publishing studios (UK, US, Japan).• Company liaison, representative, and advisor for the industry regulatory body, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA); advised PR and marketing teams as to current Federal Trade Commission (FTC) advertising and data collection policies, and lobbied and advised the FTC and ESA through work on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) Ratings and Privacy Committees to adopt and/or alter regulations to mirror current and emerging business practices.
