CurrentAfter 36 years spent within the logistics sector, unfortunately my heath and the pandemic, got the better of me, resulting in having to leave a job that I’d loved for such a long time.Like most people in the logistics sector I was used to the 50-60 hr normal weeks, the silly hours whenever some special event came up. But after my first stretch of sickness in 36 years it is time to start again.Fortunately I can still work, although its now only part time. I have set up my own company. I have been training for nearly 12 months with two Ex Firefighters of 30 years’ service both on the job, and within Fire Safety, Rob and Lee who offer a wide range of courses, guidance as well as Fire risk assessments.I still have a passion for logistics and also perform Audits with companies against their own Quality manuals. I have witnessed first hand the pitfalls of self-auditing, and believe if you want an unbiased view regarding what is happening in your organisation then internal auditing is NOT the way to go.I know that I will not be driving round in a Bentley any time in the future, but can be grateful for my work life balance, and the fact that I have enjoyed both, the people and the industry for so many years.
