Began towage career 7th July 1973 working for London Tugs based on River Thames Gravesend Kent UK. Over several years was trained and promoted through differing grades on deck working harbour and deep sea. Certified and promoted to Captain March 1998 at Felixstowe Suffolk. During this period operated the following types of tugs with propulsion systems, single screw, twin screw with and without bow thruster, tractor, single / twin screw Voith and ASD. In October 2011 employed by joint venture Nakilat SvitzerWijsmuller (NSW) as Port Captain in Port of Ras Laffan and Halul Island, Qatar. Main responsibilities overseeing and managing all vessels and mooring services inshore and offshore, ensuring a safe and reliable operation was for joint venture partner Nakilat and client Qatar Petroleum. In 2014 obtained Nebosh IGC with credit whereby employment status was changed to Port Captain / HSSEQ Manager with additional responsibility ensuring Svitzers safety management system was understood and adhered to by all employees, carrying out internal audits, safety inspections and investigations. Remained in NSW until August 2018 then transferred to Svitzer Morocco providing induction and training for the new Marine Standards Manager. Then in March 2019 transferred to Svitzer Angola as Operation Manager overseeing and managing port operations in Soyo and offshore Cabinda for Svitzer and client ALNG (Chevron). Departed Svitzer Angola April 2021. Employed by SMS Towage UK 15th December 2021 to 8th June 2022 as Captain operating ASD tugs on River Humber. In June 2022 employed by Svitzer London as Captain on ASD tugs to current date.
