Clive leads the Major Projects and Construction team at Clayton Utz in Perth and is Head of the firm's Africa Group. He is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the Federal Courts of Australia and as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. His practice focuses on major engineering, infrastructure, resource, energy and energy transition projects in Australia and abroad. With 25 years' experience advising on all stages of the procurement and construction process from contract documentation to risk management strategies and dispute resolution, Clive has represented clients in mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation in many jurisdictions, including advising on disputes in Australia, UK, South Africa, Mauritius, Mali, Cote D'Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Burkina Faso, DRC, Tunisia, India, Indonesia, PNG, Japan, Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Kuwait. He has leading credentials in Australia in both domestic and international arbitration and regularly acts in major disputes across the construction, mining, energy and resources industries. He has acted in matters governed by various arbitration rules including UNCITRAL, LCIA, ICC, ACICA, AFSA, HKIAC and SIAC.Clive has assisted owners, financiers and contractors on large-scale Australian and international mineral, oil and gas, energy and infrastructure projects. He regularly advises clients in regard to establishing resource projects in Australia, Africa and Asia including negotiating financial arrangements for mining and construction fleet procurement in Japan and Europe. He also works regularly with financiers and administrators on restructuring contracting arrangements in the infrastructure and resources sectors and has substantial experience in negotiating a wide range of project delivery models.
