Clive Rock is Principal of Silex Consulting Inc. and has 35+ years’ experience in urban transportation, planning, sustainability and energy. Clive holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and a M.Sc. in Transportation. Mr. Rock is registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia and Alberta and is also both a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Environmentalist in the UK. Prior to establishing Silex in 2008, Clive held a number of senior public sector positions including: Director of Strategic Planning and Policy with the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority (TransLink); Administrator of Transportation Planning with Metro Vancouver; Vice-President of Planning and Marketing with BC Transit and Manager of Engineering with the City of Richmond, BC. Clive’s specific experience includes: regional transportation-land use plans; rail and bus transit; highway/traffic engineering; urban transportation and sustainability. He also has experience in goods movement and logistics; environmental issues/vehicle emissions; Ghg’s and climate change; accessibility for the disabled; transportation governance & funding; marketing; multiple account evaluation; finance and organizational development. Clive has extensive involvement in public consultation, intergovernmental relations and working with elected officials. He has served on federal and provincial advisory bodies on transportation and climate change. He is also a past member of the Engineering Advisory Council at UBC and the Urban Studies Advisory Council at SFU.
