Clive is a creative and innovative academic and practitioner. Throughout his career he has balanced teaching, research and direct involvement with industry. He has expertise in the strategic management of innovation processes across a range of sectors. Clive’s research into technological innovation is distinctive and has focused upon user-centred innovation processes, especially those spanning the public and private sectors. An important theme in his work has been the study of adoption and diffusion of innovations into practice, especially, where implementation is contingent upon transformation of services. A further theme is the role of the wider innovation eco-system in supporting the successful development, adoption and diffusion of innovations.Prior to starting an academic career Clive worked in both the manufacturing and software development industries. He then worked as an academic at De Montfort University and The Open University before joining Cranfield. Clive has an MSc in Information Systems and his PhD is in user-led innovation. The current focus of his research is the innovation of technologies. Clive’s research continues to look at topics within the area of technology innovation including: innovation systems in the health technology sector; user-led innovation; open innovation; inward and outward technology transfer; and technology adoption.Clive now works with a range of organisations that are looking to innovate their products and services.
