In between international contracts I returned to my home country and was employed for a full term to teach Year 8 at Darfield High School (this position was full-time and temporary, to cover for a sick Teacher).

- Head of a new International School in Phnom Penh (ages 3-18) - grew the school from 0-200+ students in 1.5years during a pandemic!- In charge of an online school as well as on-campus school- Responsible for all staff recruitment- Developed all key policies for the school- Built relationships within the community- Developed and implemented all timetables, calendars, programmes- Oversaw marketing, infrastructure, operations, capital development- Led the initial Cambridge International school accreditation

- In the 2016/2017 & 2017/2018 academic years I was Principal of Middle School (500 students aged 10-13) - Round Square School- From 2018 I was Principal of 600 students aged 5-11 in Primary School- Led, coached and mentored 70 staff members- Involved in planning a new school campus- Led the implementation of the Cambridge International Curriculum- Led curriculum mapping and using Active Learn as an interactive portal- Co-led the AdvancED school accreditation for 2018/2019- Led the implementation of parent engagement at school using Homeroom letters, weekly School - Newsletter and parent information evenings- Introduced Discovery Evenings where teachers show parents how they teach- Implemented training and improvement of school instructional strategies- Instituted a detailed weekly engagement programme to amplify student exposure to varied extracurricular activities such as dancing, martial arts, culinary arts, and outdoor appreciation- Implemented and led assessment data analysis for reading, maths and science across the entire School.I completed 2 full contracts with Green Hills Academy.

Over 4 years in this fully administrative role I developed and implemented an effective learning programme (English National & PYP) in a primary school of 800 students aged 4-12. I was in charge of teachers, supervising them day-to-day and helping them to develop learning strategies for students. I oversaw the five-yearly school review by the Council of International Schools (COIS). I was Head of Lower Primary (200 students aged 8 & 9 in Forms 3/4) and in 2013/2014 was Head of Upper Primary (200 students aged 10 & 11 in Forms 5/6). I completed 2 full 2 year contracts with The British Schools.

My role involved developing and implementing an effective PYP curriculum across the entire Primary School (500 students). In addition, I was a Year 6 Teacher and was responsible for teaching all primary subjects. I was the coordinator of the Year 6 PYP Exhibition for the entire school (this was the first time the school had conducted the PYP Exhibition).

My role was to develop and set-up a literacy plan (using the PYP) for the Primary School of 400 children, which was in line with the best practices from around the world. I led a parent/teacher engagement about ‘Best Ways to Engage Children in Reading’. Furthermore, I developed and led teacher professional development courses on ‘Creating a Balanced Literacy Programme’, ‘Affective Assessment in the Classroom’, ‘Guided Reading’, and ‘Critical Literacy’. I completed a full 2 year contract with St Francis College.

I taught in different age groups in various schools throughout the Cambridgeshire region. This was at a time when my wife and I were travelling within the Northern Hemisphere. We decided not to return to New Zealand and this is when I began my search for a role in an international school.

My role involved helping the Principal with the day-to-day running of the school (150 students aged 5-12) and I also had the responsibility of managing the senior teaching syndicate (middle school). Furthermore, I was the ICT Lead Teacher for the whole school, an Associate Teacher (Supervisor) for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year student teachers from The University of Otago, and I was a Year 6 & 7 Teacher.

In this role I was responsible for teaching all curriculum for my class within the intermediate school (middle school). School roll: 440 students aged 11 & 12.
